Dexter (Season 7, Episode 1) “Are you…”

In this Season 7 premiere, “After witnessing her brother kill Travis Marshall, Debra (Jennifer Carpenter) attempts to reconcile with Dexter (Michael C. Hall) while struggling to cover up their involvement with the murder. Meanwhile, Detective Mike Anderson has an unfortunate run-in, Quinn and Batista begin to make amends, and LaGuerta finds evidence that causes her to re-think the closed Bay Harbor Butcher case”.  This episode is a turning point in the series. Having Debra know that Dexter is a serial killer is an amazing development that leaves the viewers on the edge of their seat every week.

Looper (2012)

This action, sci-fi, thriller was very entertaining.  “In 2072 when the mob wants to get rid of someone, the target is sent 30 years into the past, where a hired gun awaits. Someone like Joe, who one day learns the mob wants to ‘close the loop’ by transporting back Joe’s future self.”  “In the year 2042, a man working for a group of killers called “Loopers” (they work for the mob and kill people who are sent blindfolded back in time from the year 2072 by their bosses) recognizes a victim as himself. He hesitates resulting in the escape of his older self.”  In this movie the younger Joe is played by Joseph Gordon-Levitt and the older Joe is played by Bruce Willis.  There was a lot of action and violence in this movie and it was cool to see what the future was like as envisioned by the writer/ director Rian Johnson.

True Blood (Season 5, Episode 12) “Save Yourself”

In this season finale “Eric embarks on a final, desperate mission to overthrow The Authority — and save Bill from losing his humanity; Andy faces the consequences of a light pact he made; Alcide readies for a second showdown with J.D.; Sam and Luna test their limits in trying to escape The Authority”  Bill drinks Lilith’s blood and explodes in a pool of blood. Then when the blood pool changes into a new powerful, naked Bill,  Eric yells at Soki, “Run!”

True Blood (Season 5, Episode 11) “Sunset”

In this episode “to help Sookie look into an ancient family secret, Maurella and Claude take her to meet the faerie elder. Jessica becomes an unwilling participant in Bill’s ongoing religious conversion. The military uses a damning video of Russell and Steve Newlin as ammunition to deliver an ultimatum to the Authority. Alcide reconnects with his father. Sam and Luna hitch a ride into the Authority.” Lilith appears to Bill and the others nude and  covered in blood and she tells each one that they are the chosen one.  Russell sucks and kills the fairy elder lady and then can see the secret fairy hang out.

The Office (Season 9, Episode 1) “New Guys”

The Office begins its final season with Jim and Dwight thrown off balance by the arrival of two young employees (Clark Duke and Jake Lacy) that the others dubs; the new Jim; and Dwight, Jr.  Andy comes back from Outward Bound leadership training with a desire for vengeance on Nellie (Catherine Tate) and Oscar adopts Angela’s cat while Kevin saves a dead turtle.

True Blood (Season 5, Episode 10) “Gone, Gone, Gone”

“With vampire attacks are on the rise, Bill starts a public relations campaign to gain public favor. Nora, on the other hand, is having a hard time selling Lilith’s gospel to Eric. Jason’s discovery of a mysterious scroll could reveal details about his family history. The new sheriff of Area 5 presses Pam and Tara to obey a new directive. Sam and Luna search for Emma. Russell seeks out his destiny.”  This was also a sad episode because Hoyt begs Jessica to glamour him so that he would forget her and Jason for ever and move toAlaska.  We also find out that the 3000 year old vampire, Russell Edgington, wants to capture some fairies so that they can drink their blood and become day walkers.

True Blood (Season 5, Episode 9) “Everybody wants to rule the world”

In this episode, the start of the vampire holy war is a cause for celebration for Salome and the Chancellors, but Eric decides to go excape from the headquarters. Sookie learns that her parents were killed by a vampire. Andy and Jason investigate the rise in shifter murders and find out that the Bud, the former sheriff is the Dragon.  Alcide recalls his induction into the pack and Arlene and Terry remove the course by killing Patrick.  Steve Newlin gets the baby wolf as a new pet and, in this episode, Bill gets to have some wild sex bloody, vampire sex again.

Resident Evil: Retribution 2012

There is nothing like watching Milla Jovovich playing Alice in 3D in IMAX. In this 5th movie of the Resident Evil movie series, “The Umbrella Corporation’s deadly T-virus continues to ravage the Earth, transforming the global population into legions of the flesh eating Undead. The human race’s last and only hope,Alice, awakens in the heart of Umbrella’s most clandestine operations facility and unveils more of her mysterious past as she delves further into the complex.”  The action was more nonstop and amazing especially in slow motion. Also when the beginning of the movie was shown in slow motion reverse, it was cool to then see it in normal speed. Milla still is rocking a hard body at 38 and she can still wear her black outfit well. The concept of having all the major cities simulated in the base under water made for some great visual backgrounds for fight scenes between Alice and the zombies and boses.

Revolutionary Road (2008)

This was a frighteningly real, dark, romantic drama starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet. Here is the story: “It’s 1955. Frank and April Wheeler, in the seventh year of their marriage, have fallen into a life that appears to most as being perfect. They live in the Connecticut suburbs with two young children. Frank commutes to New York City where he works in an office job while April stays at home as a housewife. But they’re not happy. April has forgone her dream of becoming an actress, and Frank hates his job – one where he places little effort – although he has never figured out what his passion in life is. One day, April suggests that they move to Paris- a city where Frank visited during the war and loved, but where April has never been – as a means to rejuvenate their life. April’s plan: she would be the breadwinner, getting a lucrative secretarial job for one of the major international organizations, while Frank would have free time to find himself and whatever his passion. Initially skeptical, Frank ultimately agrees to April’s plan. When circumstances change around the Wheelers, April decides she will do whatever she has to to get herself out of her unhappy existence.”  Every married couple with kids can relate to this movie and hopefully avoid a similar disturbing ending.
