Dexter (Season 7, Episode 4) “Run”

In today’s post Ella James from Philly Buzz reviews Dexter’s fourth episode of season 7 titled “Run,”.  In this episode. “Deb is consumed with Dexter’s dark passenger. She keeps thinking about Rita and starts demanding answers. Then, as if they shouldn’t have the rift about it two episodes ago, the writers have Deb insist Harrison head toOrlandoto be with his grandparents. Dexter agrees only to a short term visit after he’s seen by Speltzer in Speltzer’s RV (the one suspenseful moment of the episode.) At Miami Metro, the team is called to an alleged suicide scene because the victim is the bartender at the strip club they’ve been investigating since Detective Anderson’s homicide. Quinn feels relieved to ‘close’ the case, continues dating the stripper he met at the club and keep his own dark passenger at bay- (Did you catch the line I’m the club where Quinn was offered a shot and some blow to chill out!?). Quinn didn’t like it, and it looks like there might be some foreshadowing into what happens with him this season. The episode ended with Dexter getting his kill (Speltzer), but instead of the usual scene and butcher block, he killed him right in the crematorium at the cemetery. In a strange twist, he called Deb to pick him up. As they sat in her car, he pointed to the smoke and told her it was Speltzer. Odd and awkward as ever, she asked Dexter if he did it for her. And of course, he said no!”  In the start of this season, I was worried that the series had “jumped the shark” when they had Deb find out Dexter’s secret.  So far the season has been as entertaining and suspenseful as ever.  Hope they can keep it up!

Arrow (Season 1, Episode 2) “Honor Thy Father”

In this second episode, Oliver heads to the courthouse to get his death certificate repealed and is pleasantly surprised to run into Laurel, who is there prosecuting Martin Somers, a criminal with ties to the Chinese Triad.Laurelis then targeted by the violent Chinese Triad and by ruthless mercenary China White. Meanwhile, Oliver is asked to take over his family’s company. Oliver decides to act unprofessionally at a public ribbon cutting ceremony so that his mom will stop pushing him to take a leadership role in the company. He kind of reminds me of the way Batman in the Dark Knight series pretended to be a drunk playboy.  Oliver capture the bad guy and records his confession so that he is arrested. We also see how Oliver got his scars on the island. He was shot by a hooded archer! Looking forward to next week.

American Horror Story (Season 2, Episode 1) “Welcome to Briarcliff”

“Welcome to Briarcliff Manor, a notorious insane asylum home to the deranged serial killer, Bloody Face. Lurking in the shadows of this “sanctuary of healing” are terrifying evils that blur the boundaries between reality and insanity.” This episode sets up what looks like a great scary season. Jessica Lange plays a terrific role as the top nun in the asylum. The story takes place in 1964 and cuts to present day in the deserted, haunted asylum. Good stuff!

The Walking Dead (Season 3, Episode 1) “Seed”

According to IMBD; “The survivors have spent a difficult winter moving from place to place trying to stay clear of the walkers and constantly looking for food. Lori is now at the advanced stage of her pregnancy but it’s obvious that she and Rick aren’t getting along. When they notice a prison in the distance, Rick convinces them it may be just what they’re looking for with the possibility of food and medicine being available. They have to fight their way in, eliminating a large number of walkers but they soon settle into a secure prison block. Several of them set off to explore the prison but are soon surrounded by walkers. They aren’t the only survivors in the prison either.”  This season premiere showed a whole lot of good, old fashioned zombie killing with guns and sharp objects.  There was lots of the realistic gore that we all have known and grown to love about this series.  It will be fun to see the baby that is born into this cruel world.

666 Park Avenue (Season 1, Episode 2) “Murmurations”

“Dexter tries to bring Debra on board with his new target. While the Ukrainian mob seeks revenge for the killing of one of their own, Quinn grows close to a dancer at their strip club. LaGuerta, convinced the Bay Harbor Butcher is still out there, attempts to enlist Batista to help her re-open the case.”  In this episode, Debra realizes that she understands why Dexter kills killers after she stops him from killing a killer who then kills another girl.  She decides that Dexter should move out of her place and back to his place which will make Dexter live easier.  Also, in this episode the Ukrainian mob kills Leonard but not before he gives them Dexter name as the owner of the boat that carried Victor 8 miles off shore.

Dexter (Season 7, Episode 3) “Buck the System”

Argo (2012)

This drama, thriller was based on a true story from a classified operatiom from 1980 that was later declassified by President Clinton.  The synopsis of this movie is: “As the Iranian revolution reaches a boiling point, a CIA ‘exfiltration’ specialist concocts a risky plan to free six Americans who have found shelter at the home of the Canadian ambassador.”  The risky plan was to enter the country alone and leave with the six Americans posing as Canadian film crew that was scouting locations inIranfor a fake science fiction movie called Argo.  Ben Afflect directed and starred in this movie and this movie will most likely be regarded as his best work to date.  This movie is getting an 8.3 out ot 10 on IMBD.

Grimm (Season 2, Episode 7) “The Bottle Imp”

“The detectives investigate a murder that leads them to a father on the run with his daughter. Meanwhile,Monroefills in for Rosalee and Renard deals with women from his past.” “Grimm straddles the line between television where what happened the week before doesn’t matter, and an epic, over-arching story where everything matters.” It is a fun show to watch and it will be good to see when the Grimm’s girlfriend get her memory back.

Grimm (Season 2, Episode 6) “Over My Dead Body”

Monroe’s old girlfriend Angelina returns toPortlandand he discovers he may pay the cost for associating with a Grimm. Meanwhile, Renard receives a visitor of his own fromEurope. “Everything came to a head as Nick discoveredMonroewas in danger only because they were friends. Nick, Hank,Monroe, and Miss Murder Rap hatched a plan to putMonroeunder a death spell and ambush whover wanted him dead. The plan worked initially, as they saw that Mia was the Royal who paid to dispatch Monroe, but fell apart when Angelina took a bullet for him, and the episode ended with Monroe’s sad Blutbad funeral for his one-time killer squeeze.”

Arrow (Season 1, Episode) Pilot

As donbizzaro on IMBD describes this series “After a violent shipwreck, billionaire playboy Oliver Queen was missing and presumed dead for five years before being discovered alive on a remote island in the Pacific. When he returns home toStarlingCity, his devoted mother Moira, much-beloved sister Thea, and best friend Tommy welcome him home, but they sense Oliver has been changed by his ordeal on the island. While Oliver hides the truth about the man he’s become, he desperately wants to make amends for the actions he took as the boy he was. Most particularly, he seeks reconciliation with his former girlfriend, Laurel Lance. As Oliver reconnects with those closest to him, he secretly creates the persona of Arrow – a vigilante to right the wrongs of his family, fight the ills of society, and restoreStarlingCityto its former glory. By day, Oliver plays the role of a wealthy, carefree and careless philanderer he used to be – flanked by his devoted chauffeur/bodyguard, John Diggle – while carefully concealing the secret identity he turns to under cover of darkness. However,Laurel’s father, Detective Quentin Lance, is determined to arrest the vigilante operating in his city. Meanwhile, Oliver’s own mother, Moira, knows much more about the deadly shipwreck than she has let on and is more ruthless than he could ever imagine.”  There is a lot of action and it will be fun to watch Oliver get revenge for his father who took his life in the life boat so that he could live.
